It is the club’s intent and ongoing actions to continuously build relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Which is the reason Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club has joined many other organisations in building a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) .
The RAP framework provides organisations a practical methodology and structured approach by which to support Australia’s reconciliation movement. Reconciliation Australia’s framework provides four levels for planning and action an organisation can develop: Reflect, Innovate, Stretch, and Elevate. Each type of RAP is designed to suit an organisation at different stages of their reconciliation journey.
Fremantle SLSC has created a Reflect RAP which has been endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. The club’s RAP Working Group (RAPWG) has formed and is working towards accomplishing the 12 goals set, noting that we have extended the dates by a year.
The RAPWG will work with the club’s community to lead positive actions helping to build knowledge, understanding and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. You will be seeing some of these actions over the next year and to be continuously embeded into our club’s culture in the future. We welcome any members who would like to join us and become involved, for more information please contact [email protected]
