Our club has once again showcased its prowess in surf boat racing, with three of its teams, part of the Western Suns, representing WA at the Interstate Surf Boat Championship and delivering commendable performances at the Australian Surf Rowers League (ASRL) Open in Coffs Harbour.
Interstate Surf Boat Championship
In the 2025 Interstate Surf Boat Championship, the Fremantle SLSC teams competed fiercely against top clubs from across Australia. Our U19 Male team, the Fremantle Sons, the Reserve Female team, Fremantle Fire, and the Reserve Male team, Fremantle Burritos, all demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork. The Western Suns were the surprise package of the 2025 competition, narrowly missing second place overall and winning the prestigious All Age 8 Boat event.
ASRL Open in Coffs Harbour
At the ASRL Open in Coffs Harbour, the Fremantle SLSC teams continued to impress. The U19 Male team, Fremantle Sons, showcased their potential by competing against some of the nation’s best young surf boat crews, finishing in equal 13th place overall. The Reserve Female team, Fremantle Fire, and the Reserve Male team, Fremantle Burritos, also delivered strong performances, reflecting the depth of talent within the club. The Fires managed to reach the semifinals, finishing in equal 12th. While the Burritos missed the Reserve Male final, they placed in the top 10 of the nation, sharing 7th position out of 61 crews in the competition. The teams’ participation highlights Fremantle SLSC’s dedication to fostering competitive surf boat racing at all levels. Congratulations to Michael, Darren, Tom, Charlie, Jack, Anthony, Lisa, Angela, Freya, Fi, Zac, Rory, Brad, and Javier. You guys make your club proud!
