There has been a distinct Fremantle flavour coming from the Life Saving World Championships currently being held on the Gold Coast.
Mark Nolan, Fremantle Life Member and member of the WA Surf Sports Hall of Fame, won his second World Beach Flags Championship, this time in the 60-64 age group. Mark also won in 2018, that time in the 55-59 category.
Not to be outdone, Adam Mills won the World Beach Flags Championship in the 55-59 category with Jeff Davidson coming 3rd. Jeff also came second in the Beach Sprint in the same category. Adam was the WA Mens Open Beach Flags Champion for Fremantle in 1988 while Jeff won the WA Open Mens Beach Sprint for Fremantle in 1990 and 1991.
Mark, Adam and Jeff are all members of the Fremantle Mens Beach Relay team that was inducted into the WA Surf Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
Fellow Fremantle Life Member Mike Cook swam into 2nd place in the Surf Race (75+ category). Mike was the first Australian home. Mike is a previous World Champion from 2006, 2012 and 2018.
Also of note was former Fremantle member Harrison Hynes. Swimming with the Australian Team, Harrison won the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins in World Record Time.
